Beautiful earthenware from the New Forest (southern England) now in The Salisbury Museum, in Salisbury, southern England. New Forest has been England’s National Park since 2005; in ancient times, ceramics were mass-produced there.
Firing ceramics in the New Forest
A large amount of sand, clay, water and wood guaranteed the material for firing dishes. There were typical kitchen products, as well as more elegant ones for serving food on the table. The New Forest was a large manufacturing centre, especially in the 3rd century CE.
