Bronze trophy found in Algeria

Trophy (tropaeum) made of bronze, measuring 2.44 meters high and weighing 240 kg. The object was found in forum of Hippo Regius (currently Annaba, Algeria).

The building was a form of a military monument erected by Greeks and Romans in honor of victory in the battle. In this case, it is suspected that he was put after the battle of Tapsus (46 BCE) and the suicides of Scipio Metellus, Cato the Younger and Juba I, king of Numidia.
