Fragment of Roman wall painting from amphitheater

Fragment of a Roman wall painting with a Latin inscription from the 3rd century CE. The object was found on the remains of an amphitheater in ancient Viminacium in eastern Serbia.

The object has been partially reconstructed based on the discoveries of archaeologists. Scientists rebuilt the wooden stands in the north-eastern part of the building and the eastern gate.

Gladiator fights and fights with wild animals took place in the amphitheater. As many as 7,000 people could sit in the audience. The object was located right next to the VII Claudia legionary camp.
