How to catch monkey?
This post is also available in: Polish (polski)
Elian Claudius, a Roman writer and rhetoric teacher who lived in the times of Septimius Severus, noticed that if someone is wearing a shoe, the animal behaves exactly the same. Hunters wanting to catch an animal used a trick.
On the ground they put shoes made of lead with holes in the bottom, under which they made a loop. When the animal put its foot into the shoe, the loop tightened and the monkey did not have a chance to escape.
