The marble head of the emperor Constans – ruling in 337-350 CE.
Constans was the youngest son of Emperor Constantine I. A devoted Christian – who initially ruled a fragment of the western part of the Empire. In 340 CE he reigned throughout the whole Western Empire. As the last emperor, he visited Britain. He defeated the Franks. He died in 350 CE at the request of usurper Magnentius.
