Painted Roman bust
Painted bust of a Roman woman from around 80 CE. The woman has on her head a typical for the Flavian dynasty arrangement of artificial and real hair.
The pointed nose and double chin are proof that the artist was paying attention to real shapes, which was contrary to idealism favored during the early empire.
