A preserved Roman helmet of the Niederbieber type, made of bronze. The object was discovered during excavation works carried out in an ancient well in Rainau-Buch (southwest Germany) in 1979.
The helmet, along with other items, was hidden in the well for fear of losing them during the invasion of Germanic tribes. The object is dated to the 3rd century CE.
The helmet retains the cheek parts, but the front reinforcement is missing (the hole in the front part of the helmet was used to fix the element).
