Roman coke oven and bench seat

Bronze coke oven and a bench for sitting. Objects are located in Pompeii.

A coke oven with three benches was discovered in the tepidarium – a special room in the Roman bath, where citizens used a heated floor and water to relax. It was thanks to such a coke oven, on which hot coal was placed, that the air in the room was heated. The objects are dated to the middle of the 1st century CE and as the inscription says they were donated by a certain Marcus Nigidius Vaccul. The described objects are decorated
