Roman mosaic showing gladiator fight
Roman mosaic showing a gladiator fight. The scene shows a defeated retiarius (“net-man”) who is seriously wounded in the chest and leg; at his side lies a trident.
The mosaic is part of a larger composition; dated to the 4th century CE. The artifact was discovered in the Roman villa of Bignor, in the south of England.
