Roman pipes that supplied water in Palmyra (Syria). An example of the engineering genius of the ancient Romans.
Vitruvius in his work De architectura raises the issue of supplying water from sources to cities.
Water is conducted in three ways, either in streams by means of channels built to convey it, in leaden pipes or in earthen tubes, according to the following rules.
