Roman portrait of a man from amethyst. Object dated to 50-40 BCE and is only 2 cm wide. We don’t know where the artefact was discovered.
Particular attention is drawn to the extraordinary realism of the Roman image, despite the small size of the object. One of the interpretations says that it is a portrait of Julius Caesar.
