Roman tombstone sculpture of Claudius Agathemerus and his wife
Roman tombstone sculpture of a certain Claudius Agathemerus and his wife Myrtale. The object is dated 90-110 CE and is located at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford (England).
There is a Greek inscription on the tombstone which states that Claudius was a physician and “quick healer”. The woman is shown as older and is set slightly in front of Claudius, indicating that she died later.
