Roman victoriati dated to the 2nd-1st century BCE. Coins discovered in Murcia. They are currently on display at the Archaeological Museum of Murcia.
Victoriatus appeared during the war with Hannibal (218-201 BCE). Its name comes from the image of the goddess Victoria minted on the coin. The Victoriatus served as a means of settlement in international transactions, and to be more precise, mainly in trade contacts with the Greek states in the south and occurred in the ratio: 1 Victoriatus = 1 Greek drachma.
