Stone column-shaped tombstone
Column-shaped stone tombstone, dated to the 3rd century CE, with a visible Greek inscription.
According to the inscription, a certain Poseidermos, an inhabitant of Massalia (present-day Marseille, southern France), son of Pythagoras, who was a distinguished foreigner among the local community, was buried in the tomb. The man was sent to the city by the Greek goddess of fate Moira from her homeland.
The artifact is on display at the Parco Archeologico di Lilibeo in Marsala (Sicily).
