The Romans Pop-Up

“The Romans Pop-Up” by Andy and Maggie Hall is a book aimed at younger readers who can recreate the scenery of ancient Rome and learn about its history by cutting and glueing.

The book has six different sceneries that can be put together:

  1. City of Rome – Center of the Empire
  2. Forum
  3. Roman home and everyday life
  4. Roman army
  5. Entertainment of the ancient Romans
  6. Port of Rome – Ostia

The book has carefully prepared instructions and tips for recreating each scenery, so both an adult and a child should have no major problems with putting it together.

Each scenery has been enriched with educational content by the authors, thanks to which we can get to know better, for example, the Colosseum or the Roman army – the aspects and structures presented on the scenes. The back cover additionally shows what the constructed scenery should look like.

Who can I recommend the book to? Certainly, younger readers who, thanks to their work, will be interested in the presented places and with more pleasure will sit over the remaining pages of the book, where they will be able to find real knowledge.

Sample scenery from the book showing the centre of ancient Rome with visible i.e. the Colosseum, Trajan’s column or the Pantheon. I took the perspective a bit wrong and I cropped it inaccurately:)
