Mark Antony
The Battle of Naulochos in the year 36 BCE finally ended the problem with the pirates of Sextus Pompey, guaranteeing for a long time peace at sea, and thus supplies to Rome. However, Mark Antony lost on this battle.
In the autumn 37 BCE, preceding the battle – basing on the treaty in Tarentum – Antony exchanged with Gaius Octavius. He gave him 120 ships, sending them to Tarentum, once Augustus declared to give Antony 20, 000 soldiers, who were to be used against the Parthians. After several reminders, Augustus sent only 2, 000 soldiers. The expedition against the Parthians ended in failure and weakened Antony forever.
