Numerous ancient finds were discovered in Spalding

Numerous artefacts have been discovered in the town of Spalding in northern England, including the Roman oven of type ‘tannur’.

According to the researchers, a similar type of furnace is still used in India. Interestingly, the find is the best-preserved object of this type in Britain. Researchers believe that the ovens allowed for quick baking of bread. Further research and analysis of oven fragments are to be conducted to understand what type of food was prepared in the oven.

In addition, a Roman stone for burrs was found, which could later be used as an anchor for a small boat.
