Roman treasure from Shropshire - hacksilver
In West England, Shropshire, in 2018, three treasure hunters found an amazing treasure in the field – numerous cut silver coins, dishes or tableware, used as a means of payment.
Such damaged items made of precious metal are referred to as “hacksilver” and were used as a means of payment after the Romans left Britain. The objects are dated to the 4th-5th century CE.
In addition to the above-mentioned finds, among the discovered objects were, among others rings and brooches.
