Completely preserved Roman bowl was discovered in Netherlands

Roman blue bowl was discovered in its entirety in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The object is estimated to be about two thousand years old. According to the researchers, the vessel could have been made in Roman centres in Germania: Cologne or Xanten, or Italy.

These types of glass vessels were created by allowing the molten glass in the mould to cool and harden. When the glass was still liquid/flexible, decorations were made. Iron oxide is responsible for the colour of the vessel; depending on the amount of oxide, it can develop a different colour under the influence of temperature.
