Large Roman wash basin found in the religious chamber in the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis.
Archaeologists have found the remains of a massive Roman building in the Egyptian city of Mit Rahin – 12 km of Cairo. The building contained a preserved Roman wash basin and a room, probably used for religious practices.
The area where the find was made, was once part of the ancient Egyptian capital Memphis. The discovered building was built of bricks, and was based on huge limestone blocks. The building covered area 17 at 14.5 meters.
In one of the rooms there was a oven. In another building, a Roman bath and adjoining other smaller rooms were discovered.
