One of the readers of IMPERIUM ROMANUM made an unusual discovery. In the county of Lancashire – exactly near the town of Clitheroe – in England, he discovered an incomplete Roman copper brooch. As it turned out, the object is dated to the 1st-2nd century CE.
The lucky finder referred the find for evaluation and research at the museum. The brooch was below the Roman road that linked today’s Ribchester and Skipton, the former Roman centres of Bremetennacum Veteranorum and Olenacum respectively.
The diameter of the round object is 33 mm; weighs 9.27 g. In the centre of the object, there are two rings with traces of red enamel and a six-pointed star. There are also traces of gilding.
