During the construction works carried out in 2017 on the Roman metro line (C), the remains of a hitherto unknown building from the 3rd century CE were found.

The ruins were discovered at a depth of 9 meters below ground level on Celius Hill, near the Aurelian Walls, which was also built during this period. The fire preserved the remains of the wood; scientists have also dug up the remains of frescoes, parts of furniture, sculptures, windows and the skeleton of a dog.
