Roman road discovered in Israel

In 2017, archaeologists unearthed a 149-meter section of a Roman road about 32 kilometers west of Jerusalem.

The discovery took place during the construction of the water line installation. The discovered cobblestone road connected Jerusalem with Eleutheropolis, a city located south of the capital. Several coins from the 1st century CE were also found at the discovery site. Scientists believe that the road could have been built during Hadrian’s visit to this region, around 130 CE.
