Well-preserved wall of Roman fort was found in Bulgaria

In Ruse, Bulgaria, the remains of a Roman wall that was part of a fortified fort were discovered. The site is called Sexaginta Prista, or the Port of Sixty Ships, and is located in the northeast of the country.

The section of the walls dates back to the 4th century CE. The shafts are about 7 meters high and 19 long. According to archaeologists, the discovery proves that the fort was larger than originally thought. The walls and fort were part of the Roman defence system of Limes Moesiae.
