This summer, in Malta, the shooting of the sequel to the famous film “Gladiator” is to begin. It is worth mentioning that in Ridley Scott’s first film, scenes were also shot in Malta.
The photos are to be taken mainly at Fort Ricasoli, a large fortification in Kalkara. According to the producers of “Gladiator 2”, the new film is to be much “bigger”.
As of now, we know that the cast will include:
- Paul Mescal, who will play Lucius, son of Lucilla;
- Connie Nielsen to play Lucilla (as in the original);
- Barry Keoghan, possibly as Geta;
- Joseph Quinn as Caracalla;
- Denzel Washington, role unknown;
- Pedro Pascal, role unknown.
The screenwriter is David Scarpa. The film is scheduled to premiere on November 22, 2024.
