Bit of “Romanness” in Malta Maritime Museum

This post is also available in: Polish (polski)

A bit of "Romanness" at the Malta Maritime Museum
A bit of Romanness at the Malta Maritime Museum

Being in Malta and looking for traces of ancient Romans, we can accidentally reach the Malta Maritime Museum in Birgu (near the capital – Valetta). It is reportedly the largest museum on the island – with over 20,000 objects. The museum shows the maritime history of the island from ancient times to modern times. A small fragment of the exhibition was also dedicated to the Phoenicians and Romans.

However, one must admit that part of the ancient exhibition is extremely poor. Apart from a few sketches of galleries and boats of ancient Carthaginians or Romans, the remains of columns and capitals or, for example, weights for the net, we will see nothing more.
