In 2017, in the Netherlands, archaeologists discovered Roman coins from the late period of the state’s existence. The find was excavated from the ground in the central-eastern part of the country.
Some of the coins have the image of emperor Majorian, and scientists suspect that the treasure was buried in the second half of the 5th century CE by a Frankish general who was paid by the Romans.
