Ancient Roman baths in Turkey to be opened to tourists
In ancient Roman bath in Turkey (Sarıkaya in Yozgat province), archaeologists are working intensely to make the baths available to tourists to visit. Excavation works began in 2010, and the area was expanded in 2014.
The so-called Basilica Therma is 2000 years old and has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list this year. The preserved, largest water pool measures 23×13 m and is 1.34 m deep. The water temperature is 45 degrees Celsius.
During the excavation work, scientists came across numerous remains of Byzantine or Ottoman culture.
