In the ancient sewers of Jerusalem, a real treasure was found – a coin that dates back to the period of the Jewish revolt (66-73 CE). Most probably, the object was lost by one of the rebels, who fought against Romans.
The coin was minted in 69 CE and is made of bronze. On one of the sides there are words: “For the Redemption of Zion” wrought in ancient Hebrew and the image of the chalice. On the second page, in turn, there is an inscription: “Year Four”.
According to the researchers, the coin probably fell out at the ground level and fell into the sewers through a break in the road / sidewalk. On the other hand, the object was found exactly in the place where the Jewish rebels were hiding. Interestingly, in the same place, the researchers also discovered the Roman sword.
