Remains of a Roman fort so-called Watling Lodge

Remains of a Roman fort, the so-called Watling Lodge which was situated on the famous Antonine Wall which passed through central Scotland. The discovery was made thanks to geophysical research.

According to the researchers, the fort was part of a larger complex of forts. 10 to 12 soldiers could serve in the fort, whose main camp was probably at Duntocher.

There were two wooden buildings in the fort where the soldiers lived. The facility could have been occupied in the years 142-154 CE when the Antonine Wall was the northernmost border of the Roman Empire.
