Roman settlement in central England was discovered

In 2016, a Roman settlement was discovered in central England, near the city of Rugby. The discovery was made during the preparatory work for the construction of a new housing estate.

During the excavations, numerous 2000-year-old artefacts were found. In addition to finds from the Bronze Age, Roman remains have also been found, dating from the 5th century BCE until 43 CE – found are, among others, ceramic products.

Stoves were also discovered in the settlement, which probably produced ceramics made in the “Belgian” style. Discovered items are currently being examined by experts.

The settlement was unknown for centuries. The first human activity in these lands dates back to the Bronze Age. The highest activity, however, according to scientists, is the Iron Age and Roman influence.
