Roman water cisterns discovered in Tunisia

In the ancient city of Maxula Prates (now the port of Radès in Tunisia), traces of Roman water tanks have been discovered. The discovery was made during construction works.

Such antique cisterns were extremely valuable in arid climates and were usually used to store water.

It is worth mentioning that Maxula was an ancient Roman colony located in the Roman province of Africa; near what is now Tunis.
