Colosseum by night

In 2017, two tourists tried to break into the Colosseum. They paid for their stupid trip with injuries. Brazilian intruders, aged 30 and 32, jumped one of the Colosseum’s gates at night and climbed four meters high to see the structure up close.

Unfortunately, their feat ended badly as they both fell off. One of them resulted in only scratches, while the other broke his pelvis. Friends of Brazilians called an ambulance, which provided immediate help around 3 am. The police also arrived and questioned the perpetrators – as it turned out, they could not say why they decided to visit the Colosseum at night.

This is not the first time foreigners have tried to break into a Roman monument at night. In August last year, two Germans climbed the 45-meter-high Flavian Amphitheatre – filming it with a camera and publishing it on the web – which sparked a discussion on the security of the building.
