Interesting Roman ring
Roman gold ring dated back to 1st-2nd century CE. It was found next to Hadrian’s Wall.
Initially, it was decorated with precious stones, as revealed by the holes inside the circular relief. Inscription on the ring says: MATR / VM.CO / COAE. Its meaning is unknown; however it may have ceremonial purpose and dedicated to a maternal divinity, as indicated by the inscription “MATRVM”.
Located currently in The British Museum.
