Reconstruction of the Gate of Mars

Reconstruction of the Gate of Mars – triumphal arch in Reims (Roman Durocortorum), France. The object is dated to the 3rd century CE and was the widest Roman arch.

The object was 32 meters wide and 13 high. It owed its name from the nearby Temple of Mars. Until 1544, the remaining part of the building was part of the fortifications. In 1817 the arch was cleaned of nearby structures, thanks to which we can admire the foundations of the building.
