Roman mansion discovered in north-western France

In 2017, in Langrolay-sur-Rance in northwestern France, archaeologists discovered a large Roman estate that had its own thermal baths.

The villa was a large structure that had its own gardens, heated floors, colonnades, stables, and a beautiful view of the Rance River. Certainly, this place was a country residence of a rich Roman family from the city of Fanum Martis – located about 12 km from the villa.

The property covered an area of ​​over 371 m². These thermal baths had their own changing room, paddling pools, cold and warm pools, a heated underfloor caldarium room, which was the warmest place in the building, and a massage room.
