Roman watchtower was discovered in Turkey

Researchers found the remnants of the Roman watchtower in the Karatay National Park (central Turkey). According to specialists, the construction was still used in Byzantine times.

The building was probably created about 2000 years ago and served as a garrison. There was a room in the building for one or two people. The area is rich in such type of objects. Archaeologists collectively discovered about 42 towers.

At the end of the existence of the Roman Empire, the towers lost their usefulness and were gradually used by shepherds and farmers to observe their herds, as well as to store grain.
