Gold coin of Maxentius

Gold coin of Maxentius from the reign of 306-312 CE. Maxentius, who was Maximian’s son, was not included in the tetrarchy system. He was given power by the praetorians.

Coins of this type were aimed at the propaganda of the new ruler, who in this case placed the symbol of Rome on the obverse – a she-wolf feeding twins.
