Realistic reconstructions of Roman emperors

Daniel Voshart made amazing reconstructions of the images of Roman emperors – from Octavian Augustus to Numerian. As he says, for his work he used numerous surviving sculptures and coins of emperors as well as ancient texts, trying to create the most credible and meaningful portraits.

In the case of later emperors, whose sculptures have not survived to our times, the author was forced to rely only on coins and their origin to create his own vision of the figure.
