The philosopher Seneca the Younger was one of those Romans who condemned public executions and lamented the influence they had had. they are on viewers. Ironically, it was his pupil, Nero, who became famous for his immoderate cruelty, which also manifested itself in his practice of throwing Christians to lions to eat.
In the first years of his reign, Nero was not interested in politics and listened to Seneca’s advice. With time, however, Seneca’s position in the eyes of Nero decreased to such an extent that he preferred to leave the imperial palace. However, he did not escape death. Nero, suspecting his former tutor of participation in the plot, ordered him to commit suicide.
