Domitian Stadium - then and now
The graphics wonderfully illustrate how the place where once was the great stadium of Domitian in Rome looks.
The stadium was built around 80 CE during the reign of Emperor Domitian and had dimensions of 54 by 276 meters. It was built by order of the emperor for the people of Rome. Greek-type athletics competitions take place in his arena. In place of the stadium a square Piazza Navona was created, thanks to which we are able to imagine the shape and size of the Domitian sports stadium.
