On November 22, 2024, the highly anticipated film “Gladiator 2” will premiere, which is the sequel to the first part from 2000, which has gone down forever in the history of cinematography. As it turns out, one of the actors will be the famous American actor Denzel Washington, who will play the role of Macrinus.

As revealed in the film, Macrinus is an extremely brutal character and operates as an ancient arms dealer in Europe. He is an opportunistic and ruthless businessman for whom profit is the most important thing.

According to historical records, Macrinus was the prefect of the praetorians and he was supposed to kill Emperor Caracalla in 217 CE. Raised to the Roman throne by the troops subordinated to him, he reigned only a year because he was also killed. It seems that the director of the blockbuster Ridley Scott will once again allow himself to depart from historical realities.

It is worth noting that the character of Macrinus will be played by a black person; when in fact the emperor was of Berber descent. This will certainly be met with considerable criticism.
