Women’s hairstyles varied depending on the fashion in a given period. In this case, the hair was parted in the centre of the head, and the rest was gathered in a bun or a ponytail at the back, sometimes leaving a small fringe of curls at the front. This type of haircut was especially popular with housewives in the Augustan era.
