An ancient Roman stone with an inscription was discovered in Bath (England). As it turns out, the object refers to the practice of haruspices, who used to tell fortunes from the entrails of animals.
The inscription reads: “DEAE SVLI L MARCIVS MEMOR HARVSP DD”, i.e. “To the goddess Sul, Lucius Marcus, a grateful Haruspex, donated out of his devotion”. The goddess Sulis was identified with the goddess of wisdom, Minerva.
