The world of ancient Romans abounded in a number of amazing curiosities and information. The source of knowledge about the life of the Romans are mainly works left to us by ancient writers or discoveries. The Romans left behind a lot of strange information and facts that are sometimes hard to believe.

Chariot race on a Roman mosaic discovered in Spain. Spina looks very interesting – foundation in the middle of the arena. Various ornaments hung on the spina, such as statues, obelisks, shrines and two porticos. The mosaic also shows that the spina was filled with water.

Marble fountain base

The marble Roman base of the fountain decorated with shells and heads of dogs. These types of buildings adorned Roman villas. Dated to 1st-2nd century CE; now they are in the British Museum.

Marble bust of emperor Antoninus Pius, dressed in a military uniform, from the middle of the 2nd century CE. Scientists believe that the object could have been created during the early reign of the emperor (around 140 CE); could also be a replica.
