30,000 finds in Lincolnshire
30,000 finds in Lincolnshire

In northern Lincolnshire (England), scientists discovered nearly 30,000 different objects and finds from different historical periods. Among them are ceramics from the Bronze Age and a Roman burial.

The excavations are part of a project to build the world’s largest wind farm. The discoveries will be at the Scunthorpe Museum. Among others, the following were dug out of the ground:

  • oyster shells that were arguably extremely popular in Tetney’s Roman times.
  • ceramics from the Bronze Age
  • traces of a Roman-British center
  • remains of 2 medieval salt processing sites
  • items made of bone or metal (including coins, brooches, knives, nails)
  • two burial sites (medieval and roman)
