Roman mausoleum and well-preserved floor mosaics have been discovered in southern London. According to the researchers, people from the upper social classes were buried in this place.
Research and excavations are carried out by the Museum of London Archeology (MOLA); the institution believes it may be the best-preserved Roman mausoleum in Britain. In addition to the discovered foundations and mosaic, archaeologists found over 100 coins, fragments of pottery, roof tiles and pieces of metal.
The specialists plan to assess the age of the building and create a 3D model of the discovered site. The works carried out are also aimed at renovating the place and making it available for sightseeing.
