Archaeologists made an amazing discovery in ancient Laodicea (western Turkey) – a great statue of emperor Trajan was extracted from the earth. The object is dated to 113 CE.
The object is very well preserved and in almost perfect condition. The statue is three meters high; 356 pieces of sculpture were discovered that were connected to each other. In addition to the figure of the emperor, we see a defeated soldier with his hands tied behind his back.
