Rome, the capital of the ancient empire, is an extraordinary treasure trove of history, full of fascinating stories and secrets. From its mythological beginnings, through the period of expansion and rule of the empire, to its fall and impact on the present day, Rome continues to inspire and amaze.

Mythological origins and foundation of the city

According to legend, Rome was founded by the brothers Romulus and Remus, who were raised by a she-wolf. Their conflict led to a tragic ending, but Romulus, building a city on seven hills, became its first king. Although this tale is more myth than history, it symbolizes the sublimity and heroism that formed the foundations of Rome.

Roman Republic – an era of growth and prosperity

During the Republic, Rome flourished as a political and cultural power. The eras of the triumvirates, as well as the Punic wars, became key moments shaping its history. Julius Caesar, Pompey and Mark Antony are just some of the figures who entered the Roman chronicle deeply.

Roman Empire – the rise of power and its fall

The arrival of the Roman Empire brought a period of greatest power. Emperors such as Octavian Augustus, Trajan and Marcus Aurelius contributed to the flourishing of Rome as the center of civilization. However, over time, internal conflicts, the decline of morality and the pressure of barbarians led to its disintegration.

Heritage of Rome in the modern world

Although the Roman Empire fell, Rome’s legacy endured. His law, architecture, literature and philosophy continue to influence the modern world. Even today, from the Colosseum to the Pantheon, traces of ancient Rome are visible throughout the world, reminding us of its former glory and greatness.

Rome, with its rich history and heritage, remains a fascinating source of inspiration and learning. His stories of heroism, power and fall continue to attract researchers and history enthusiasts from around the world. In the eternal city, each stone has its own story to tell, which makes Rome an extraordinary place full of secrets and inspiration.
