Airbnb, a portal and application for short-term rentals and purchasing attractions and trips, has signed a contract with the management of the Colosseum for EUR 1.5 million. According to the agreement, in the evenings, after the facility is closed to tourists, two rounds of staged gladiator fights will be organized, and anyone interested will be able to perform in the arena. The attraction is to be available from May 2025.
Additionally, people who want to perform in the attraction will take part in workshops that will allow them to better learn about the life and fighting techniques of gladiators.
However, the initiative does not meet with a positive response. Many people claim that this violates the dignity of the building.
